Ala’ Bachir

Painter, sculptor, and plastic surgeon, Ala Bashir graduated from the Institute of Fine Arts (1959), and the Faculty of Medicine (1963) in Baghdad. His surrealist compositions with their traumatized, anxious figures in shocking contrasting colours, have a disturbing effect in recounting a tale of transgression and cruelty.
