Muhammed Abu-Khalil Lutfy

Egypt, b.1920

Muhammad Abu Khalil Lutfi got his initial training at the College of Fine Arts  (1942) and the Higher Institute of Art Education (1944) in Cairo before attending the Design Institute in Chicago (1947), gaining an M.A. from Ohio University (1949), taking art courses at New York University (1950-1953) and studying theatre design in Belgrade, Former Yugoslavia. Painter and pedagogue, he taught at various institutions in Egypt and Kuwait (1954-1993). He creates in his abstract-impressionistic landscapes with glowing vibrant colours, a private world where emotions rule supreme, devoid of man-made inhibitions.
