Join us for the upcoming meetup of “Hiwar Art Club” for a talk by Key note speaker Abdullah Al Bayyari, an academic, writer and researcher in critical theory and cultural studies, who will introduce his propositions regarding the role of arts in urban development and the individual and collective relationship we have with our city. This will be followed by a discussion with actors in artistic and cultural domains in Jordan, along with our joined audience. Selected readings on the topic will also be given to the participants in preparation for the second session on Monday 27, September.
Through specialized readings and relevant artistic examples, our subtheme for this month will address our relationship with urban spaces, how inclusive and democratic our public spaces are? Who is represented by this space and who isn’t? Who has the right to shape it? And what role does art and culture assume in this regard? This subtheme is curated by Goethe Institute Amman.
“Shaping our Future Communities” is organized by the Jordan National Gallery of Fine Arts, EUNIC, Società Dante Alighieri-Amman, Goethe-Institut Jordan and the Institut Français de Jordanie. This project is part of the Europe Readr – Living for the Future initiative.
