Shakir Hassan Al said

Painter, art theorist and art historian who graduated from the School of Fine Arts in Baghdad (1954). Between 1955 and 1959 Al Said went to Paris where he took classes at Académie Julian, École Nationale des Arts Decoratifs and École Nationale Superieure des Beaux Arts. By 1969, he had developed the concept of what he termed “One-dimension”. It was a new concept of the Arab Calligraphic School in art; since, his work became totally devoid of figuration and he began to include Arabic letters in most of his abstract compositions that he creates out of unconventional media.
