Chafiq Abboud’s initial training in art was at the Lebanese Academy in Beirut then at École Nationale des Beaux Arts and the studio of the French painter André Lhote in Paris. Skillful distribution of colour that light up the canvas by overlapping and mixing, to form the composition, distinguish Aboud’s abstract works. A pioneer of Arab abstract art, he built up a considerable number of followers among the subsequent generations of artists.
