Hassan Massoudy

A traditional calligrapher who trained in Baghdad, Hassan Massoudy moved to Paris in 1969 and attended the École Nationale des Beaux Arts, graduating in 1975. He has published several books in Arabic and French on the development, aesthetics, and techniques of Arabic calligraphy.Massoudy’s work is distinguished by its purity, as his only compositional elements are calligraphic signs that he either uses on their own or amasses them in figurative and abstract forms.
