Ismail Fattah
Iraq, b.1934 - 2004
Painter and sculptor, Ismail Fattah graduated from the Institute of Fine Arts in Baghdad (1958) to continue his training at the Accademia di Belle Arte and San Jacomo Academy in Rome. Known for his public monuments in Iraq, Fattah’s figures, whether drawn or cast, seem to emanate a force that links to his country’s ancient artistic traditions and the way he relates to them, in a contemporary emblematic manner.
