Mahmoud Abd Al-Ati

Egypt, b. 1950

A student of Abdul Rahman Nashar, Mahmoud Abdul Ati reduces his colours only to white while he inserts in his wooden works incised and protruding calligraphic shapes, in a rhythmic movement, emphasized by softly coloured halos that seem to complement the overpowering whiteness of the work.
