He graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Baghdad in 1959, then went to Beijing, China, where he specialized in graphic arts (1959-1961). He later moved to Lisbon, Portugal (1964-1969). He worked as a professor at the Institute of Fine Arts in Baghdad, where he taught graphic arts and printmaking. He was also a member of the Iraqi Artists’ Association and the Iraqi Artists’ Syndicate, and participated in numerous local and international art exhibitions.
