Saad Shaker

Sa’ad Shakir studied at the Institute of fine Arts in Baghdad graduating in 1957 with a diploma in ceramics. He completed his studies at the Central School of Fine Arts in London (1960) where he lectured for two years. Since his return he has been teaching ceramics at the Academy of Fine Arts in Baghdad. Shakir’s abstract pieces are fashioned after clear geometric shapes yet with the insertion of natural lines and contours showing a controlled technique in dealing with coloured glazes.
