Yousef Zannoun

Iraq, b.1932

He graduated from the Teachers’ Institute in 1954, specializing in art education and Islamic arts. He participated in numerous international seminars and conferences on Islamic arts, archaeology, and heritage, and oversaw the documentation of many archaeological and heritage sites. He also served as an expert in Arab and Islamic architecture and participated in several competitions held both inside Iraq and abroad. He designed many mosques and created inscriptions for over 180 mosques in Iraq and some Arab countries. Additionally, he taught and lectured on the history and art of Arabic calligraphy at various universities in Iraq, the Arab world, and abroad.
