Under the Patronage of H.E. Dr. Omar Razzaz, The Royal Society of Fine Arts Cordially invites you to the inauguration of “Contemporary Art from Asia” at The Jordan National Gallery of Fine Arts – Building 1, 7:00 p.m. Wednesday 3 July 2019. The exhibition will run through 31 December 2019.
Asia is the largest and the most diverse continent with respect to culture, ethnicity, natural landscape and population density. Since its inception, the Jordan National Gallery of Fine Arts has been collaborating with people of different nations, regardless of their political affiliations, who have left their mark on the aesthetic map. Hence comes “Asia”, an exhibition that aims to enrich our aesthetic knowledge of the continent and its people’s creative output.
The Jordan National Gallery has held a considerable number of solo and group exhibitions of works by artists from a number of Asian countries. We are pleased to present this significantly large exhibition of artworks by 140 artists from 20 Asian countries from the gallery’s permanent collection.
The works in this exhibition vary in trend, technique and subject and deal with themes focusing on people and places. The audience is able to view traditional arts, miniatures and calligraphy, as well as works in the realist, expressionist and abstract styles that include paintings, drawings, engravings, prints, sculptures, installations and mixed media works.
