Painting and sculpture honorary exhibition for the Lebanese artist Hussein Madi, Under the patronage of Her Majesty Queen Rania Al Abdullah

Under the patronage of Her Majesty Queen Rania Al Abdullah, the Royal Society of Fine Arts/ The Jordan National Gallery of Fine Arts organizes an Honorary Exhibition for the Artist Hussein Madi entitled “Hussein Madi in Amman”, 12:30 pm Monday 18 May 2015 at the Jordan National Gallery of Fine Arts.This exhibition represents the whole collection of 115 artworks donated by the artist Hussein Madi to the permanent collection of the Jordan National Gallery of Fine Arts, including drawing, painting, sculpture and graphic works in different techniques.Hussein Madi was born in Lebanon in (1938), He studied in Lebanon, and then moved to Italy, where he lived for twenty-two years. He mastered the crafts of painting, sculpture and printmaking, as well as the techniques of fresco, mosaic and graphic art at the Accademia di Belle Arti and the Accademia San Giacomo in Rome. Since 1965, Madi has held over sixty solo exhibitions and has participated in a large number of international exhibitions and biennials around the world.
From her side HRH Princess Wijdan Al Hashemi, President of the Royal Society of Fine Arts said “I have no words that can describe my feelings of recognition and gratitude towards Madi. I pray that he will continue enriching contemporary Arab art with his creativity, setting an example in generosity of spirit and appreciation of the public, for other artists to follow.
As for Dr. Khalid Khreis , Director general of the Jordan National Gallery of Fine Arts, welcomed the artist Hussein Madi by saying: “It gives us great pleasure at the Jordan National Gallery of Fine Arts to present Hussein Madi with an exhibition that is honoring him for presenting the Museum with a whole collection of 115 pieces including sculpture, painting, drawing, giglée and graphic works, out of his belief that our Museum is crucial in safeguarding Arab art and decimating artistic culture locally and on the international level. I cannot but express my deep gratitude to Hussein Madi for his generosity, his noble feelings and love of Jordan that he continuously expresses in many ways.”
The exhibition will run through 30 July 2015.
