Under the patronage of HRH Princess Wijdan Al Hashemi, the Jordan National Gallery of Fine Arts, the Embassy of Switzerland in Jordan, and the Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority cordially invite you to attend the opening ceremony of the second stop of the “Voices of the Reef” exhibition, at 7:00 PM on Wednesday, 23 April 2025, at the Jordan National Gallery of Fine Arts – Building 2.
“Season 1” of this multi-year project features 11 female and male artists from Jordan and Switzerland, namely Ahmad Turki, Ahmad Shaweesh, Anas Aqel, Tamara Alajlouney, Dana Abukhalil, Sondos Abuladas, SalahEddin AlQawasmi, Lutfi Zayed, Laila Hajbi, and Yasmin Al Kurdi from Jordan; and Maeva Rubli from Switzerland.
Who visited Aqaba to dive and explore the marine environment, and get inspired. In return and to inspire, they created this unique collection of artworks, each emphasizing the significance of coral reefs according to their personal artistic vision, sensitivity, and style.
This exhibition marks a stopover in Amman along the project’s journey, offering audiences in the capital a special opportunity to engage with this diverse body of work inspired by the coral ecosystems of the Gulf of Aqaba, following its first showing in October 2024 at the historic Aqaba Fortress.
The project is organized by the Jordan National Gallery of Fine Arts, in collaboration with the Embassy of Switzerland in Jordan, ASEZA, the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities, the Aqaba Marine Reserve, and the International Organisation of La Francophonie. It is supported by the Ministry of Culture, the Swiss-Jordanian Business Club, Ayla Oasis, Divers Divers Diving Center, Jordan Express Tourist Transport (JETT), Lacosta Hotel, Ahli Bank, and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).
