Join us in the upcoming session of “Hiwar Art Club” for a talk and open discussion with Dr. Ohoud Kamal, titled “Counter-Mapping: A Creative Tool for Reclaiming Narratives in Art”, with the participation of Abdullah Khalil and Ghena Al-Halabi.
In this talk we will introduce art practitioners to “counter-mapping” as a transformative practice that challenges conventional ways of seeing and representing the world. We will explore how artists can use counter-mapping to question dominant narratives, reclaim space, and to voice marginalized perspectives. By blending creative expression with social activism, counter-mapping opens new pathways for artists to engage critically with geography, power, and identity through their work.
Dr. Ohoud Kamal received her PhD in urban planning at Newcastle University and a MArch in Urban Design from University College London and is currently an assistant professor at the American University of Madaba.
The talk will be in Arabic.
Join us next Wednesday 25/9/2024 at 6:30 PM at Wijdan Artspace – located at the Park of the Jordan National Gallery of Fine Arts.
