Under the patronage of HRH Princess Rajwa bint Ali, The Aqaba Fortress will host “Voices of the Reef” (Season 1) art exhibition, organized by the Jordan National Gallery of Fine Arts, with the support of the Swiss Embassy in Jordan and the Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority, from November 1st, 2024 – for 6 weeks.
The exhibition will feature artworks created by 11 artists who participated in the first “immersive residency” organized in May 2024 in Aqaba: Ahmad Turki, Ahmad Shaweesh, Anas Aqel, Tamara Alajlouney, Dana AbuKhalil, Sondos Abuladas, SalahEddin AlQawasmi, Lutfi Zayed, Laila Hajbi, Yasmin Al Kurdi (Jordan), and Maeva Rubli (Switzerland).
The project aims to raise awareness of coral conservation in the Gulf of Aqaba through art. It also fosters dialogue between art, science, and the environment, bridges various communities and empowers established, emerging, and promising talents, be they artists, environmentalists, scientists, or social entrepreneurs, focusing on the younger generations.
