About

SalahEddin AlQawasmi

An artist and cultural practitioner. He earned his BA in Visual Arts with a focus on drawing and painting in 2020. SalahEddin’s work is deeply rooted in the exploration of the unconscious, where he pulls at the threads of dreams to create almost mythic spaces. These spaces are inhabited by ambiguous biomorphic forms and natural elements, which he weaves into vibrant, open-ended narratives. His artistic process is one of discovery and introspection, inviting viewers to embark on their own journeys of interpretation. Each piece becomes a conversation between the seen and the unseen, the tangible and the ethereal, leaving much to the imagination while grounding his work in the visceral realities of nature. SalahEddin’s work has been showcased in numerous group exhibitions in Jordan, as well as in international art fairs in Egypt and Armenia.

Work Statement:

In the Depths of Obscure Sanctuaries

In the depths where life sways with the sea currents, corals weave intricate formations, embracing their world and other worlds around them with ease and balance. When they are separated from their sanctuary, their balance slowly fades, and their vibrant spirits remain silent, losing their essence.
Heavy air floats around them; their new, vast space, suffocates them.
Home is more than a place, it’s a sanctuary where memories are freely formed, and a haven where safety and warmth indulge into ourselves. Oh, how delicate life was in the cradle of their homes.
Their yearn elevates for the currents that once whispered secrets through their branches.
What is a haven if it no longer accompanies the sea? What does adaptation mean if it was forced?
Stuck in their obscure sanctuaries, longing for what was taken from them, and here they are, mere decorations pleasing our eyes day and night.
Will they remain as they are? Or will the displacement change them irreparably?
“In the Depths of Obscure Sanctuaries” is a speculation on this displacement and its effects in replacing real life with falsity, and the unspoken experiences of those who have been torn from the place to which they belong.
