INTERNATIONAL OPEN CALL

FOR PUBLIC ART PROJECTS

FACTORY establishes its international open call for Jordan Public Art projects in two categories:

• MODEL 1: Permanent Public Art.
• MODEL 2: Temporary Public Art.

Targets: artists.

Call: biennial.

WHAT IS PUBLIC ART PROGRAM?

IN/OUT Jordan Public Art is based on the conviction that the creative community builds bridges and demolishes walls and borders. IN/OUT is an open call that takes place in public places in Jordan. The works will be designed to be placed in specific outdoor or indoor public locations and will be available for public interaction day and night during the exhibition period.

OBJECTIVES:

– Support new artistic expressions in the urban space.

– Provoke a dialogue with the public, community interaction and exchange with the spatial surroundings.

– Develop didactic that bring art closer to the citizen.

– Stimulate citizen participation and re-evaluate public space as a place where art becomes available to interlocutors who will play an important role in building meanings and exploiting the spaces they usually pass by.

– Focus on moral discourse, aesthetic discourse or both with the routine life of the city.

INTERNATIONAL OPEN CALL

FOR ART RESIDENCES

FACTORY launches its international open call to invite artists, cultural, social and academic agents to reside for a specific time.

Targets: Artists, social and cultural agents, academics and researchers, linked to contemporary creation, with an experience of at least 5 years.

Location: Art Residency building at the Jordan National Gallery of Fine Arts, Amman, Jordan.

Call: biennial.

WHAT IS JARS PROGRAM?

Through Factory under the umbrella of the JNGFA we provide the space and time for reflection, research, presentation and / or production to the selected residents. The program covers the stay and the work space in the art residency building of the Jordan National Gallery of Fine Arts. The residency building, a few meters from the JNGFA, facilitates the interaction of the residents with the gallery itself, and provides logistical and material support to the residents. JARS allows people to explore their practice within the framework of another community; meeting new people, using new materials, experiencing life in a new location. JARS emphasizes the importance of interdisciplinary cultural exchange and immersion in another culture. Therefore, art projects that involve the local community through presentations, workshops or collaborations will be especially valued. The JNGFA is committed to exhibit the residents’ works, as well as helping them to carry out scheduled meetings and workshops to disseminate their research.

OBJECTIVES:

-Improve experimentation and innovation in social, creative, artistic, urban, technological and environmental spheres.

– Encourage artistic practice within the framework of another community; meeting new people, using new materials, experiencing life in a new location.

– Encourage participation and collaboration with other cultures.

– Revalue research in different fields of creation, discover artists and thinkers, and give visibility and publicity to their projects.

INTERNATIONAL OPEN CALL

FOR CURATORIAL PROJECTS

FACTORY establishes its international open call to support curatorial projects that address contemporary creation and innovation in creative processes, in their conceptual or procedural scope. As well as curatorial projects that take into account Jordanian artists and the National Gallery’s Permanent Collection.

Targets: Curators.

Where: The Jordan National Gallery of Fine Arts, Amman, Jordan.

Call: biennial.

WHAT IS CURATORIAL ART PROJECTS PROGRAM?

– Factory will host curators who develop curatorial projects of any discipline linked to contemporary creative practices such as; drawing, painting, graphic, sculpture, photography, video art, installation, performance art, dance, music, theater, film, anime, architecture, design, urban planning, technology, social and environmental projects, etc.

– The curators should give special attention for the following topics:

• The National Gallery’s Permanent Collection.
• Modern Jordanian art trends.
• Social, environmental, gender issues, etc.
• Experimentation and innovation in the field of artistic creation.
• Environmental, social didactic, etc.
• Expository discourses in relation to new technologies.

OBJECTIVES:

• Encourage research around the National Gallery’s Permanent Collection.
• Promote research in social, creative, artistic, urban, technological, environmental, etc.
• Give international visibility to the contemporary artistic scenes ​​of the Middle East.
• Encourage the introduction of new formats and expository and didactic discourses in relation to the topics investigated.
• Revalue research in different fields of creation, giving impetus and visibility to the projects and their creators.

FOR EMERGING ART PROJECTS

FACTORY establishes its international open call to support projects of artistic, cultural, journalistic, didactic, technological, scientific, environmental, social, or other spheres in the process of development.

Targets: artists.

Where: The Jordan National Gallery of Fine Arts, Amman, Jordan.

Call: biennial.

WHAT IS EMERGING ART PROJECTS PROGRAM?

Factory/the Jordan National Gallery of Fine Arts will host projects in the process of development, generated from contemporary creation and innovation. The projects of any discipline will be evaluated individually or collectively, linked to contemporary creation, which present proposals that are in the process of investigation and require an impulse for their development, production and implementation.

OBJECTIVES:

• Improve experimentation and innovation in social, creative, artistic, social, urban, technological and environmental spheres.
• Encourage the introduction of new formats and expository and didactic discourses in relation to the topics investigated.
• Encouraging citizen participation in the fields of the creation of different disciplines.
• Revalue research in different fields of creation, giving impetus and visibility to the projects and their creators.
