Rafik Al Kamel

Tunisia, b.1944-2021

A graduate of the School of Fine Arts in Tunis (1967), Rafik Kamel lived and worked in the Cité International des Arts in Paris (1968–1969) before attending the École Nationale Superieure des Arts Decoratifs, graduating in 1970. Kamel, of the second generation of Tunisian painters, is an abstractionist who uses molecular groupings in subtle colours, aiming to reach an inner reality not visible to the naked eye.
