About the Campaign:
“We, the residents and visitors of Jabal Al-Weibdeh, organized ourselves to act and move the Jordanians to protect old Amman. We recently learned about signs of entry of major international companies to Jabal Al-Weibdeh neighborhood and the city center, Among these companies that are so far confirmed are the American “Starbucks” cafe, the French “Carrefour” store and a McDonald’s franchise. We have lost enough of the nature and identity of ancient Amman, and if we are silent about the construction of global brands and companies in old Amman neighborhoods like Jabal Al-Weibdeh, this will contribute to destroying our local products and the visual and social identity of the place and its residents.”

Humanoid robots are like new creatures on our planet. They work at reception desks, in shopping malls or as chefs. And they are coming into our private lives…

„With an A.I., you have to keep your sentences short and to the point.“ This piece of advice is given to Chuck as he’s picking up his new robot partner Harmony fresh from the factory. Together they go on a road trip through California. As it turns out at a second glancing, the sex robot Harmony likes books and can ad lib quote Ray Kurzweil.

While Harmony and Chuck are searching for love questions arise: How will robots and artificial intelligence change our lives? What will we win, what will we lose? And, who will be the main protagonists of the future world? The documentary shows us tomorrow’s world today.

The term, being actively explored in 21st century art and activism was coined by civil rights advocate Kimberly Willaims Crenshaw.

In the past, labels such as gender, class, race and religion have tended to label us as one thing, when the reality is that we are complex beings. How do these labels keep us from having empathy for one another and what role can art making have in creating empathy and connection? How does the concept of intersectionality help liberate ourselves from old ideas and forms, both in how we think and what we make, and allow us to explore new ones? The artworks filling the experimental space of the Jordan National Gallery of Fine Arts stand for the creative attempts in using craft to begin answering these questions.
