Farghali Abdel Hafiz

Egypt, b.1941

Painter, sculptor and art instructor, Farghali Abdul Hafeez graduated from the College of Fine Arts in Cairo (1962) and Accademia di Belle Arte in Rome (1967). He derives his subjects from popular icons and symbols such as the sugar doll made in Egypt, to celebrate the birth of the Prophet Muhammad that he stylizes into enigmatic reference to represent a present steeped into ancient folk social traditions.
