Bashir Makhoul

Painter, art historian and lecturer, Bashir Makhoul first got a Diploma in art education from Oranim School of Art at Haifa University (1984-1987) followed by B.A. (Hons.) in fine arts from Liverpool Polytechnic (1988-1990), M.A. in fine arts (1990-1992) and Ph.D. in theory and practice (1992-1995) from Manchester Metropolitan University. Makhoul’s paintings, with repetitious Arabesque and geometric calligraphy, in dominant dark colours intercepted with flashes of brightness, are overpowering in their size and visual impact.
