Fahrelnissa Zeid
Jordan, b.1901 - 1991
Of Turkish origin and international repute, Zeid first attended the Academy of Fine Arts in Istanbul and then went in 1927, to Ranson Academy in Paris; she was a member of the D-Group in Istanbul and a member of the Paris School. She lived in Istanbul, Paris, Baghdad and London before settling in Amman in the late 1970s and in 1980 she opened her studio to a small group of ladies whom she trained in painting and drawing.
