Ibrahim Awaam
Sudan, b. 1935-2017
Ibrahim El-Awaam studied at the American University of Cairo and subsequently at the School of Fine and Applied Arts in Khartoum. In his purely calligraphic compositions, the influence of Islamic and African backgrounds of Sudan is visible through the free hand shapes of Arabic calligraphy and choice of colour and decorative elements.
