Kamal Boullata

Kamal Boullata’s initial training in art was at Accademia di Belle Arte in Rome, followed by the Corcoran School of Art in Washington DC. A painter, engraver, pedagogue, writer and literary critic, he has edited several poetry books. Boullata’s occupation with the calligraphic school of art began in the 1980s. In 1993 and 1994 he spent one year in Morocco on a Fullbright scholarship investigating Islamic design, hence realizing new perspectives in his abstract geometric paintings.
