Khalid Khreis
Jordan, b.1956
Painter, sculptor, print maker, art historian and curator, Khreis is one of the most trained Jordanian artists. He got his B.F.A. at Hulwan University in Cairo, in 1978, after which he went to Barcelona and trained in painting at Escuela de Belles Artes while simultaneously training in sculpture at Escuela de Artes Aplicadas y Artisticos Oficios. Between 1979 and 1981 he followed courses in mural painting at Escuela Internacional Pintura Mural, San Cugat, graphic art and sculpture at Pietro Bannucci in Perugia (Italy) and silk screen at San Miguel de Allende in Mexico. In 1989, he went back to Barcelona to train in lithography at Escuela de Artes del Libro and get a Ph.D. in History of Art at the Faculty of Fine Arts, at the University of Barcelona in 1993. He has been the Director-general of the Jordan National Gallery of Fine Arts since 2002.
