Mahmoud Taha
Jordan, b.1942 - 2017
Ceramist and calligrapher, Mahmoud Taha graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Baghdad (1968), and studied calligraphy with one of the known modern Arab calligraphers, the late Mohammad Hashim Al-Baghdadi. He continued his training in ceramics at Cardiff College of Arts in Wales (1976). A leading Arab artist who introduced the art of ceramics into Jordan, Taha’s talent lies in his skilful experimentation with coloured glazes and his ability to successfully join the traditions of his country’s most ancient craft with contemporary techniques.
