Muhamad Omer Khalil

Sudan, b. 1936

Mohamed Omer Khalil is a master engraver and printer who graduated from the School of Fine and Applied Arts in Khartoum that hee subsequently joined its faculty. He also trained at Accademia di Belle Arte in Florence. His large etchings based on multi-layered patterns and symbols derived from his immediate environment, regardless of its geography, shows his total deliverance from ethnic and indigenous ties.
