Ramzi Mostafa
Egypt, b.1926-2015
Painter, printmaker, ceramist and sculptor, Ramzi Moustafa graduated from the Accademia di Belle Arte in Bologna, Italy (1955) and the Royal College of Art in London (1956), before getting his Ph.D. in art history from Denver University in Colorado (1961). He teaches at the Academy of Fine Arts in Cairo. In his calligraphic paintings he re-enacts modern Islamic art works by drawing on Arabic letters for both their versatile graphic qualities and content.
