Vera Tamari

After graduating from Beirut College for Women (at present Lebanese American University) with a B.A. in fine arts (1966), Vera Tamari went to Florence to train in ceramics (1972/73) and then to Oxford University where she got an M.A. in Islamic art and architecture. Ceramist and art historian, Tamari is a professor of Islamic Art and Architecture at Bir Zeit University in the West Bank. She creates Palestinian landscapes and family portraits of clay that capture the serene and peaceful spirit of her country and people.
