Alfred Hatmal

He studied art privately and then taught drawing in high schools and at the Adham Ismail Center for the Arts, the Institute of Fine Arts and at the Centers for Fine and Applied Arts in Damascus. He participated in numerous group exhibitions in various countries. His contributions were not limited to exhibitions; he also played a key role in establishing the Fine Arts Association and was pivotal in organizing the annual traveling exhibition in Syria in 1965.As one of the founders of the Syrian Visual Arts Movement, Hatem’s pioneering and leadership work contributed significantly to shaping and modernizing the Syrian art scene.
